Fortunately, technological innovations have conquered the market in recent years to save you time! Isn't life wonderful?

Overview of the tips you need to know to enjoy healthy and clean pool water, with (almost) no effort!

What treatments for the water in your polyester swimming pool?

Did you know that today, a plethora of treatments are available on the market? From chlorine treatment, to bromine, to the implementation of a salt chlorinator, all are extremely effective. However, certain products should be avoided, in particular treatments based on copper or minerals. Indeed, the latter can cause irreversible stains on the coating of your pool.

Focus on the different treatments that are compatible with your polyester shell pool:

– Chlorine treatment : Easy to use, this type of treatment is the most frequently used by pool owners. Available in tablet or powder form, chlorine has a complete action on disinfecting water. However, depending on the sensitivity of swimmers, it can sometimes cause skin or eye irritation.

– Bromine treatment : In addition to ensuring optimal disinfection of the water, bromine treatment has the advantage of having a continuous action, even if the temperature or pH of the water varies.

– Salt treatment : Perfect for swimmers who tend to have sensitive skin and mucous membranes, salt treatment requires the use of an electrolyser. This device will transform the salt present inside your pool into sodium hypochlorite, a substance particularly known for its algaecide properties.

– UV treatment : Extremely effective in eliminating micro-organisms, UV treatment nevertheless requires use with a disinfectant solution.

– Active oxygen : Like salt treatment, active oxygen is ideal for people who suffer from irritation when exposed to chlorine. However, be aware that its effectiveness is correlated with the pH and the different temperature variations of your water. For optimal action, you will need to combine it with other pool disinfectant products.

How to recover green water from your shell pool?

– Automate your pool treatment

No secret: for a healthy pool, the treat your pool : is mandatory. And although the strip kits for analyze the water while it is the most used method by pool owners, it is not the easiest, nor the fastest.

To effectively automate your pool water treatment, you have two options: automatic distributors of disinfectant (chlorine or bromine) or pH regulators.

How do these devices work?

On the one hand, the automatic dispenser is useful for regularly checking the water quality. Depending on the result obtained, it automatically introduces disinfectant (chlorine or bromine, depending on your pool) directly into your pool. Please note that to function properly, this device requires regular checking of the disinfectant tank.

The pH regulator is directly integrated into the hydraulic network of your shell pools. Every day, the pH of the water is automatically measured and, if necessary, the device continuously diffuses the regulating product until the water is balanced again.

And to save even more time, you can directly opt for a pH regulator combined with an automatic disinfectant dispenser !

– Complete maintenance with an automatic cleaning robot

Having clean and healthy water is good. But for impeccable results, it is imperative to regularly vacuum and brush your polyester swimming pool.

And for this, using an automatic cleaning robot is ideal. But you still have to choose it well! Indeed, on the market, you will find a plethora of models, more or less adapted to your needs and your budget:

  • The electric robot : Easy to maintain and efficient, this type of the cleaning robot adapts to all types of coating (floor, slope, walls) for an optimal result. But that's not all, thanks to its integrated wheels and cleaning brushes, electric robots are able to vacuum up all the debris from your fiberglass pool. All in complete autonomy!
  • The hydraulic robot : Also called “suction robots”, hydraulic robots are extremely efficient when cleaning your pool. Once connected to the skimmer or the broom socket of your pool via a floating hose, the hydraulic pool robot moves randomly to collect the various impurities. And unlike the electric robot, the hydraulic robot does not require electricity to operate!

– Do not neglect manual cleaning

Although today, the arrival of new innovative technologies has appeared on the market, we must not neglect manual maintenance ! And the reason for this is simple: certain external pollutants, such as dead leaves, branches, or pollen, must be removed manually. Without this, the use of your the cleaning robot will no longer be effective and the water in your pool may gradually turn green.

To avoid getting to this point, run the net through your pool every day to collect impurities. Empty the skimmer basket as much as possible and check the condition of the filter. We promise, this step will not take you more than a few minutes!

How to recover green water from your swimming pool?

Despite the precautions taken, you are not immune to finding water in your pool green. You're wondering how this could have happened? In reality, several reasons can explain the appearance of a green water. But before you rush to any treatment product, it is important to diagnose the causes of the problem.

Most of the time, when your water is green, it comes from the presence of algae in your pool. The development of these algae can simply come from unbalanced water (an abnormal pH level, insufficient filtration time or a disinfectant level that is too low), but also from a sudden change in water temperature. To find healthy water and thus be able to swim in peace, you will therefore have to get rid of it.

Perform shock treatment

One of the first reflexes to have when your pool turns green is to carry out a shock treatment using the appropriate product (shock bromine, shock chlorine). But before that, a few checks will be necessary, such as:

– Analyze the pH of your pool water and rebalance it if necessary;

– Check the cleanliness and proper functioning of the filtration system.

Once you have previously completed this step, you will need to obtain some chlorine (in tablets or granules) and add it directly into your pool skimmers. Be careful, in addition to ensuring the recommended dose is respected, be patient! Your pool water may need a few days to become clear again.

Before enjoying your pool again, remember to clean the algae residue, either by manual brushingor by using your robot vacuum cleaner.

Use anti-algae products

You have just carried out a diagnosis and you notice that the green water in your pool comes from algae proliferation ? In this case, you can directly pour an algaecide product into your pool, in front of the return jets, according to the dose indicated on the product.

Like the shock treatment, wait until the water has turned blue again and clean the pool before jumping in!

As you will have understood, if automated maintenance saves you precious minutes, it is however essential to adopt some good practices on a daily basis to fully enjoy your pool!
